Hello! And welcome to Parkland Baptist Church.
My name is Josh Munan. I serve as the Lead Pastor at Parkland Baptist Church in Spruce Grove Alberta. So that you might know me a little bit better, let me briefly share some of my background and how I came to know the Lord. I was born in Washington DC and at a young age my family moved to Canada – in part due to the upheaval of the sixties generation. I grew up in a secular Jewish home and was not exposed to the Gospel until my late teens. During my teen years, I lived a pretty bad lifestyle – of sex, drugs and rock and roll. Eventually by a miracle of God, I got accepted into the University of Guelph in Ontario, hoping to follow in my dad’s footsteps of pursuing a career in the medical field, so I majored in the Biological Sciences. While a student at Guelph, I heard the Gospel in a powerful way and came to know the Lord Jesus as my personal Saviour. This is how it happened. One evening in September of 1980, I went to a Christian meeting and after the speaker gave his message I was convicted of my sin, repented and accepted the Lord. Immediately I was a new man. The Lord gave me the power to leave my sinful lifestyle and I embarked on the great adventure of knowing Jesus and serving Him. After graduating from Guelph University with a BSc, I worked as a research assistant in molecular biology and after a few years in enrolled in the University of Alberta. It was there that the Lord made it clear He was calling me to serve Him in ministry in a full-time capacity. After graduating from the U of A, I met my wife Karen, and after two years we married. I then enrolled in seminary and after graduating I entered into the ministry. I have served as a Bible College instructor, as a pastor in evangelical churches and in a Messianic Jewish Congregation. I also served overseas in the Middle East for several years. I have 3 grown children, 2 sons and 1 daughter.
When I first became a Christian, I could not stop reading the Bible. It was all so very new to me! One time I was so engaged in reading my Bible in the university library that I lost track of time and discovered that my Microbiology class was half over. My love for the Word of God has not diminished over time, in fact it has grown over the years. This is one of the reasons why I love to serve the Lord as a pastor/teacher. I have the greatest job in the world because I get to teach what I love and get paid for it! As your pastor, I look forward to helping you grow deeper in your walk with the Lord Jesus and to equip you to serve Him more effectively.
Pastor Josh Munan
Associate Pastor of Family Ministries
Enoch Gray is a dedicated Christ follower and a family man. The most important thing to him is his relationship with God, allowing God to transform his life, and then encouraging others to do likewise. Because of his passion for God and call to ministry, he acquired a Bachelors of Arts degree with a major in pastoral ministry and had spent several years serving both as a pastor and also in international missions ministering to high school students and their families.
Enoch married his wife, Andrea, while they were in college and they now have five kids. This affords him with a wonderful opportunity to live out what he teaches and preaches (admittedly this is easier said than done). When he isn’t serving the church or caring for his family, Enoch greatly enjoys woodworking and reading.
Our congregation believes that the Bible clearly points to two distinct classes of leadership within the church body, both of whom function under the Lordship of Jesus Christ. These two categories are known as the Council of Elders and the Board of Deacons.
